Angela grew up under the spectacular Southern Alps mountain range on the agricultural plains of Canterbury, New Zealand, a rural region of wide-open fields, crisp mountain air, and close-knit communities.
Every season was distinct, bringing much-loved activities and small-town traditions that marked the passage of time.
In her career before becoming an author, Angela specialized in community consultation and communications in many remote, rural towns in New Zealand and Australia.
She still enjoys visiting small towns and meeting the people who make them come to life.
Canterbury and the Southern Alps, NZ.
Maroon Bells, Aspen, Colorado.
When Angela first traveled to Colorado, she felt herself instantly at home amongst the rugged mountain range, the patchwork rural landscape that changes with each new season, and with the people who were friendly and engaging.
While there, she met a biochemist and herb farmer—just like Callie and Olive in the series—who thought the small nearby community of Lyons sounded like Jackson's Bridge. She was right!
Angela still lives in a small town today in the far north area of New Zealand’s North Island, with her husband, son, and Flash-the-Whippet—her faithful writing companion.
When at home, she loves walking the nearby river trails, staying at the beach, camping, cooking and baking with her family—and of course enjoys writing, reading or listening to great stories.
